Phil Mendoza grew up in a family that loved the outdoors. He always knew that he wanted to pursue a career that would allow him to live that lifestyle. Phil took up bowhunting a few years after college as a way to further challenge himself as a hunter. It didn’t take him long to get hooked. He began shooting almost every day and soon was trying harvest as many species as possible. Shooting year round to be ready for the next hunting season became the norm but Phil still craved more. He looked into 3D archery to measure himself against other hunters and tournament shooters and was humbled very quickly. Not being a person to settle for mediocrity, he began to study the game of 3D archery and started practicing. Attending a shoot every other weekend became the new routine to prepare for hunting as well as continuing to compete against the local talent. It took a few years for Phil to begin to win the some of the local shoots and it didn’t take him long to target the next level of competition. Phil began shooting 3D on a national level in 2009. Since then he has won his way out of the amateur divisions of the ASA Pro AM and currently competes in the Pro class. With a little luck and a lot of hard work, he was able to win his 1st event as a Semi Pro at the ASA Florida Pro AM in February of 2013. 2014 proved to be Phil’s best year as a competitor as he took top honors in the Colorado Train to Hunt Challenge as well as the Wyoming Train to Hunt Challenge. The icing on the cake came In August of 2014 when Phil was able to win Men’s Open division at the Train to Hunt National event.
Phil is the owner of No Limits Archery, the largest archery Pro shop in Colorado, he is the creator of the Alpha Bowhunting Challenge and Author of the Booklet, Targeting Buck Fever. Phil also helps his father run their family Demolition and Excavating business. Juggling all the work and feeding the need to be an outdoorsman comes second only to his family. A beautiful wife and two healthy boys are where Phil’s heart is and they are the reason for his drive. His long term goals are to give more to bowhunting and tournament archery then it has given to him.
